Our collaboration began in the first course of the Business Analytics Honors Program at NC State University. Together, we combined our unique skills to tackle several challenging business cases successfully. With our diverse backgrounds, each team member contributed different perspectives allowing for creative insights.
Jakob Schlierf

Jakob currently is a Senior at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC & ESB Business School in Reutlingen, Germany, where he is studying International Management Double Degree.
This allows him to graduate from both Universities at the same time.
In addition to that, Jakob is taking a concentration in Information Technology and participating in the Data Analytics Honors Program at NC State.
Jakob has held internships in both Consulting and Industry, leveraging Data Analytics to the best of the respective possibilities.
These included Reports and Analyses for Executives, even those to the highest level.
For Jakob, the advent of Executive ad-hoc analytics using dashboards, machine learning, and IoT-devices present significant changes in leading a company, leading to previously unseen opportunities. In his free time, Jakob is an avid member of NC State’s Rowing team, competing in Regattas all over the East Coast.
Lorena Souza
WANT TO CONNECT?
Lorena is currently a senior pursuing a dual degree in Business Administration and International Studies with concentrations in Data Analytics, International Relations, and Supply Chain at NC State University.
Lorena worked at Nutanix in the Summer of 2017, where she learned a lot about hyper-converged infrastructure and cloud computing.
She studied abroad at Insper University, a school with a world-renowned business program at the end of 2017.
In 2018, Lorena completed an internship at GKN Driveline as the Global ERP IT intern where she learned about the design and implementation of information systems.
Lorena was also accepted at the highly competitive Data Analytics Honors Program where she learned how to analyze and predict performance in different types of industries using a variety of Information Technology tools.
Her commitment to academics is exceptional, particularly her strong abilities in linguistics and adaptability evidenced by her fluency in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Lorena is also exceedingly passionate about medicine and biotechnology,
having taken several 300-level courses in these areas.
Nico Tio
WANT TO CONNECT?
Nico is a senior at North Carolina State University majoring in Business Administration concentrating in Information Technology and Business Analytics Honors Certification.
He is currently an intern with the Project Management Lite Program at NC State Office of Information Technology. His responsibilities include but are not limited to programming, troubleshooting, and updating information in the telephonic systems to maintain communication accuracy. His interest in business and IT that lead him to the Business Analytics sector.
He said, “many data haven’t been analyzed to solve business challenges and explain phenomenon around us.” Outside of academia, Nico enjoys playing video games competitively and taking long road trips with friends.
Erin Blake
WANT TO CONNECT?
Erin is currently a junior (and a half) at North Carolina State University majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Technology.
Along with her major, she is in the NC State Business Analytics Honors Program. She anticipates graduating in December 2019.
As she was a dental hygienist for ten years before returning to college, she would love to pursue data analytics in the healthcare industry.
Her favorite part of analytics is finding hidden insight within the data. To her, it is like a treasure hunt.
When she is not running regression models, she enjoys playing soccer and hanging out with her dachshund, Snickerdoodles.
