Murder Accountability Project

Thomas Hargrove, as a journalist, wondered why a growing number of murders go unsolved and wanted to find the serial killer from the Supplementary Homicide Report. Data included the victim’s age, race, sex, and how the victim was killed. Using cluster analysis, he was able to find patterns in the report to identify serial killers. Patterns in Seattle, Washington was apparent and all over the United States. Thomas attempted to contact local authority about these patterns but they do not want to recognize it as a serial killing. Analytics is utilized to identify patterns for law enforcement to catch criminals and make the world a safer place. Thomas founded Murder Accountability Project to build a community where they analyze data and solve unsolved murders. According to the video, there are “More than 220,000 unsolved murders in the United States.” If you want to apply your data analytics skills to solve unsolved murders, join the Murder Accountability Project.
